WonderCon 2022 Masquerade Details Announced

After two years of dim stage lights, it’s finally time to strike a pose again at WonderCon Masquerade.

This year’s event will take place at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 2 in the ACC North Ballroom at the Anaheim Convention Center (subject to change). The master of ceremonies will be Phil Foglio, artist and writer five times winner of the Hugo Prize. Intermission entertainment will be provided by star wars Lightsaber artists The Saber Guild and The Corps Dance Crew will fuse cosplay, dance and popular music for a lively performance. A panel of guest judges will award the WonderCon trophies for Best In Show, Judges’ Choice, Best Re-Creation, Best Original Design, Best Workmanship, Most Humorous and Most Beautiful. Winners of the above categories will receive free 3-day badges to WonderCon 2023. One change for 2022 is that the event will be limited to 25 entries, making it all the more important to register early.

In addition, two other prizes will be awarded. Frank & Son Collectible will present their representatives deem the crowd’s favorite a cash prize of $500 at the entrance. Costumer’s Guild West will be presenting a one-year membership to their CGW group, as well as a full scholarship and a free hotel night at their annual weekend conference, Costume College®, held last weekend. end of July 2023 (winner may choose 2024 instead) at the Warner Center Marriott in Woodland Hills, CA at the entrance chosen by their representatives. Masquerade contestants must have a badge for the convention (which will be held April 1-3) – and they promise “badges will be on sale soon”.

You can apply online now, or at the masquerade box office at the convention from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday or until the show is sold out, whichever comes first. So register now to secure your spot.
