Sunny today; the new system arrives for Thursday

We have good forecasts in front of us for the middle of the week. We are talking about high pressure descending in the northeast with a further dose of drier weather, sunshine and near seasonal temperatures. This morning temperatures start in the 30s to mid 40s with clear skies. We are also continuing to dry out, especially after yesterday’s rain.

The afternoon will bring an abundance of sunshine, highs in the mid to high 60s and gusty north-northwest winds of 10-20 mph. It’s going to be a balmy day overall, but it’s also going to be one of those days where if you’re not in the sun, the breeze might cool you down from time to time. Nonetheless, be sure to grab the sunglasses and go enjoy the day.

On Thursday, a new system should arrive. It is an area of low pressure with boundaries that will provide scattered showers and isolated showers to the north of the country and the upper valley tomorrow. The warm front will lift first with a round of lighter showers late tonight through tomorrow morning.

The most scattered activity and heaviest showers will arrive with the afternoon cold front. Rainfall totals will average 1/4″ to 1/2″+. The highs will only top in the upper 50s to the lower 60s.
