St Martin’s site in Fulwood to see the start of construction
Construction has begun on a plan to create 14 homes available for rent-to-own in Preston.

The Fulwood site will include five three-bedroom houses and nine two-bedroom apartments in a two-storey block, built on the site of the former St. Martin Parish Center. There will also be a new chapel and hall on the site.
Liverpool-based property company Redwing will operate the rent-to-own scheme on the £2.8m scheme run by the Regenda Group.

The plans were drawn up working closely with the community, which led to the new chapel and parish hall in Broughton being at the heart of the project.
Designed by architects Paddock Johnson Partnership and structural and civic engineers Alan Johnson Partnership, the homes will be built to high environmental standards.
Homes will be equipped with air-source heat pumps, while apartments will benefit from photovoltaic panels and KERS indoor heat pumps that convert waste heat from homes into low-cost renewable hot water. There will also be electric vehicle charging stations everywhere.
The program offers first-time buyers in the area an exciting opportunity to access the property ladder, with the 14 energy-efficient homes available for rent-to-own.
This option gives tenants a lower monthly payment than the market average, giving them the opportunity to start saving money for a down payment to purchase the property. The first residents are expected to move in in the spring of 2023.

The program is supported by funding from Homes England and will be managed by Regenda Group throughout the project.
The development will be built by group members, M&Y Maintenance and Construction, with the homes being handed over to Redwing for management on completion, who are also part of the group.
The chapel and the parish center will belong to the parish of Broughton.

Recently M&Y Maintenance and Construction visited the parish to support their Easter Project, with a substantial delivery of Easter eggs which will be shared with local families in need across Preston.
