Belgian newspaper Les Sports + reports today that Newcastle are interested in former Everton and Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini, who now has short hair.
The Belgium international of 87 caps (18 goals) joined Shandong Luneng at the end of January 2019, and he has since played 57 times for them with 21 goals.
We’ve only got one signing so far, and that’s a great one for right-back Kieran Trippier, 31, who was our best player in the 1-0 loss to Cambridge last Saturday.
Fellaini just turned 34 so he’s no spring chicken but Eddie Howe apparently sees him as a player who will greatly help Newcastle over the next few years in building a first-class Newcastle squad.
His contract at Shandong Luneng runs until the end of 2025, but it has been reported that he is keen to return to the Premier League.
We don’t know if he will want to join Newcastle United in his current role, but Amanda Staveley and her company are interested in the 6-foot-5 midfielder.
Other clubs are interested in him as well, which is not surprising.

“There are a lot of clubs who want him back to Europe, including Newcastle’s newly rich Englishmen who see him as the perfect fit for their new squad.”
We now have 20 days left in this transfer window, and defenders and at least a good striker are the absolute minimum priority.
And Newcastle risk losing to Watford at home on Saturday if we can’t bring in a striker by then because who will score the goals?
