Newcastle United Blog | Injuries could prevent two moves as Newcastle negotiate high fees for Future Star – Reports
Newcastle encounter obstacle after obstacle in their attempts to land a center-back before the weekend. Sven Botman’s pursuit appears to have come to an end, with Lille simply unwilling to part ways with the defender this month.
Parallel moves for Diego Carlos of Seville and Benoit Badiashile of Monaco also enter rough terrain. Sevilla might not be able to sell Carlos due to an injury from center partner Jules Kounde while Badiashile injured himself on Sunday.
The much-loved Kounde was sent off at half-time in Sevilla’s 1-0 win over Getafe. A deal for Carlos will not be penalized until the extent of his injury is known. Badiashile’s injury may have ruled out a pursuit of the 20-year-old by Newcastle.
Here is a series of tweets from Express Sports reporter Ryan Taylor on these developments.
In addition, Sevilla are also waiting to find out the extent of the injury suffered by Jules Koundé on Sunday against Getafe. If he faces a fate on the sidelines, any move by Newcastle for Diego Carlos this month is likely to be blocked with the club 2nd in La Liga. #NUFC

Newcastle’s pressure for a center-back has ended as they may have to find another alternative to pursue. Fortunately, they have a long list but need to get to work right away.
There is some positive news from the attacking side. Sky Sports report that Newcastle are in negotiations for Hugo Ekitike of Reims. The 19-year-old is valued at nearly £ 30million.
90min claim talks are advanced and Newcastle would be prepared to pay high fees for a player they see as a rising superstar.
