National vs Labour: When Omicron arrives | The daily blog
There’s a man running around taking names
And he decides who to free and who to blame
Not everyone will be treated the same
There will be a golden ladder coming down
When the man comes
The hairs on your arm will stand on end
To terror in every sip and in every supper
Will you participate in this last cup offered?
Or disappear into the potter’s soil
When does the man come back?
Listen to the trumpets, listen to the pipers
A hundred million angels sing
Multitudes march towards the great kettledrum
Voices are calling and voices are crying
Some are born and some die
The realm of Alpha and Omega is coming
And the whirlwind is in the thorny tree
The virgins are all trimming their locks
The whirlwind is in the thorny tree
It’s hard for you to kick the stings
Until Armageddon, no shalam, no shalom
So the father hen will call his chickens home
The wise will bow before the throne
And at her feet they will cast the golden crowns
When the man comes
Omicron arrives.
National and ACT sing from the same hymn sheet, the classic hit list “Labour-haven’t-done-enough-to-prepare-for-Omicron.”
It’s the usual tedious list of complaints about a healthcare system that’s changing as fast as it can. The All National groans face the low death and hospitalization rates that only confirm Labour’s credentials for leadership in the Covid crisis.
Luxon says if he was PM he would be on the phone with every DHB daily to check if they need anything for Omicron.
There are 20 DHBs.
Let’s say he talks to everyone for 10 minutes.
That’s over 3 hours each day he would call the DHBs.
I’m concerned about Luxon’s time management.
Jacinda calling off her own wedding is the epitome of the self-sacrifice we are all called upon to make.
Labour’s past political victories for its leadership, however, are now a weakness with a variant that can spread as fast as Omicron. Previous successes are about to be swept away with the arrival of Omicron.
The Greens have made a great suggestion by ensuring that suitable masks are made available free of charge!
The shockwave of actual levels of disease and death will stun a complacent Shire.
The country will become delirious with disease and fear and in our feverish malaise we will turn to false prophets like Brian Tamaki, Christopher Luxon, Mike Hosking and David Seymour, who for a split second of disease-induced madness, will seem reasonable .
Such will be the depths of generational poverty that Omicron will tap into, the solutions promised by the political architects of this inequality will ring like hope.
New Zealand will be marred by this as Omicron exposes the inequality we have all painstakingly ignored.
The misery we are about to endure will tear apart our egalitarian façade.
Don’t expect it to end until September.
It is the hotel industry, tourism and the MIQ affected for the next 8 months.
Hang on for impact.
The virgins are all trimming their locks
