CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Purdue basketball is ready for another road conference game, this time against Illinois at the State Farm Center in Champaign, Illinois.
The Fighting Illini have beaten the Boilermakers in three straight games and are a perfect 6-0 in the Big Ten to start the season. However, Purdue is looking for its third consecutive road game against ranked teams dating back to last year.
Purdue’s 14-2 start is the fifth 14-2 or better start since the 2009-10 season. A win over Illinois would be the best 17-game start in the Painter era.

It’s Purdue’s toughest Big Ten challenge so far this season, so watch what could be a tough showdown.
2:30 p.m. ET — Sasha Stefanovic hits her fifth 3-pointer of the game. He had another open eye, but was fouled on the shot. Purdue has an 83-80 lead with 3:20 left in the second overtime.
2:25 p.m. ET — Illinois ties the game at 78 with less than 10 seconds left, and Jaden Ivey is unable to make the 3-point buzzer-beater. We now have a second overtime and the Boilermakers will need to make saves to come away with a win.
2:22 p.m. ET — Jaden Ivey scores the first six points for Purdue in overtime, but the Boilermakers have been unable to stop regularly. Trevion Williams had the ball taken away with a one-point lead, now Illinois is looking to move forward with 40 seconds left.
2:46 p.m. ET — Kofi Cockburn fouled Illinois, called as Jaden Ivey rushed to the edge. The sophomore goalie hit both of his free throw attempts to give Purdue a 71-69 lead in the first minute of overtime.
2:15 p.m. ET — Zach Edey, Jaden Ivey, Mason Gillis, Eric Hunter Jr. and Sasha Stefanovic on the floor to start overtime.
2:13 p.m. ET — Sasha Stefanovic can’t strike at the last second. We have overtime here in Champaign, Illinois.
2:07 p.m. ET — Zach Edey can’t come away with a basket under the rim, and Illinois goes down to score, bringing the game within two runs. Purdue leads 69-67 with 28.2 seconds left.
2:04 p.m. ET — Illinois calls a timeout as Purdue leads 67-60 with 1:58 left. Sasha Stefanovic nails his fourth 3-pointer of the second half, and Trevion Williams delivers a nice pass to Mason Gillis under the basket for 2.
Williams wasn’t a good scorer this afternoon, but he did contribute with two offensive rebounds and three assists.
1:56 p.m. ET, UNDER 4 — Purdue leads 62-58 with 3:30 to go. Trevion Williams is just 4-15 from the field, but Sasha Stefanovic caught fire from the 3-point line in the second half. He got all three of his shots from deep after starting 0-2.
1:47 p.m. ET, UNDER 8 — Zach Edey adds to his point total. He has 18 points to lead all scorers as Purdue holds a 57-51 lead with 7:45 left. Illinois hasn’t scored in more than two minutes, missing its last four shots.
1:44 p.m. ET — Andre Curbelo, who hasn’t played in two months, is one of three double-digit Illinois players. He quickly finds his bearings and has successfully completed several mid-distance jumps. Purdue leads 55-51 with 8:38 left after a 3-pointer from Sasha Stefanovic.
1:41 p.m. ET — Zach Edey back in the game for Purdue. Trevion Williams and Jaden Ivey have been largely ineffective so far this afternoon. Williams and Ivey are 5-20 combined from the field.
1:36 p.m. ET, UNDER 12 — Purdue and Illinois trade scores so far in the second half. The Boilermakers will need to make a few saves to keep the Fighting Illini from coming back. Purdue leads 49-45 with 11:30 to play.
1:30 p.m. ET — Trevion Williams with four points already in the second half, already matching his total in the first half. Purdue needs a big score in the paint as Kofi Cockburn sits on the bench.
1:24 p.m. ET, UNDER 16 — Purdue leads 43-37 with 15:28 left in the second half. Illinois stays close with a 3-point trio in the first five minutes. Sasha Stefanovic hits her first shot from deep so far this afternoon, but the Boilermakers are just 3-10 from beyond the arc.
1:06 p.m. ET — Purdue calls a timeout after consecutive 3-pointers from Illinois. Zach Edey with the only basket in the second half for the Boilermakers, and the Fighting Illini trail by just five points after the first three minutes of this half.
1:17 p.m. ET — Kofi Cockburn commits his fourth foul of the game and heads for the bench.
1:46 p.m. ET — A roar of boos from the crowd as Kof Cockburn recovers his third foul of the game. Purdue scores its first basket of the second half through Zach Edey.
12:54 p.m. ET, HALFTIME — Kofi Cockburn ended a 17-0 Purdue run with a pair of free throws late in the half. The Boilermakers lead 37-26 at halftime. Zach Edey, Trevion Williams each have two fouls, as does Cockburn.
The Fighting Illini finished the half shooting just 31% from the field.
12:45 p.m. ET, UNDER 4 — Trevion Williams is just 1 of 7 from the field so far, but Zach Edey is making the most of his opportunities in the paint. He has a team high 14 points and has made 5 of 6 shots. Purdue on an 11-0 run, leading 31-24 with 2:47 left in the first half.
12:41 p.m. ET — A flagrant handed over to Illinois Omar Payne, who sparked a small scuffle with Trevion Williams. Both players received a technical foul.
12:34 p.m. ET, UNDER 8 — Isaiah Thompson ends a 10-0 run at Illinois with a 3-pointer, but Purdue trails 24-23 with 5:35 left in the first half. The Boilermakers are 1-7 in depth so far.
12:32 p.m. ET — Trent Frazier hits a pull-up jump shot to give Illinois their first lead. The Fighting Illini also hit a 3-pointer on their next possession. Purdue hasn’t attempted a shot in more than three minutes.
12:29 p.m. ET — Jaden Ivey and Mason Gillis return for Purdue.
12:28 p.m. ET — Zach Edey is doing a good job making Kofi Cockburn work for his points. Illinois Center is just 2-5 to start the game, and Edey is already off with a steal in the first half.
12:25 p.m. ET — Zach Edey returns to the game, alongside Ethan Morton and Caleb Furst for the Boilermakers.
12 p.m. 9 p.m. ET, UNDER 12 — Purdue was scoreless in 2:07 but still leads Illinois 14-12 with 11:49 left in the first half. Boilermakers 0-3 from the 3-point line to start the game.
12:79 p.m. ET — Kofi Cockburn gets his first points of the match, a dunk on the dribble after blowing up Trevion Williams. Williams with a quick float on the glass to meet the other end of the floor.
12:17 p.m. ET — Trevion Williams and Eric Hunter Jr. are entering the game for Purdue. Kofi Cockburn back in the field for Illinois as well.
12:14 p.m. ET, UNDER 16 — A 3-pointer from Illinois guard Trent Frazier has the crowd roaring, but Zach Edey gets a basket under the rim with Kofi Cockburn on the bench. Purdue leads 10-5 with 14:33 left in the first half.
The Fighting Illini have shot 20% from the field so far.
12:09 p.m. ET — Zach Edey backs up Kofi Cockburn and makes a nice move to the rim to get the first field goal of the afternoon. Jaden Ivey hits an easy float to make it a 4-0 early.
12:08 p.m. ET — Purdue wins the tip, but Illinois walks away with a jump ball to take their first offensive possession.
