Below, follow our recap of Season 3, Episode 2 of “Lego Masters.”
9:02 p.m. — Previously on “Lego Masters”! In the season premiere, 12 new teams launched their mission towards a $100,000 prize by building their own starships. Firefighters’ Maltese-shaped vessel exploded Stephen and Stephen to victory. In the end, the small town brothers and sisters Drew and Miranda were the first duo eliminated. Who will be the next one ?
9:05 p.m. — Teams enter the building room excited for their second challenge. The iconic theme music from “Jurassic Park” fills the room as Will explains the biggest and most dangerous constructs in these contestants’ lives. They will create an epic action scene that shows dinosaurs exploring our world. They should also add fireballs, sparks, explosions or gunpowder trails as special effects. This challenge lasts 12 hours. Let’s go!
9:10 p.m. — After randomly drawing which special effect they will incorporate, the teams start thinking about their constructions. Emily and Liam try to focus on time management, an issue they struggled with last week. Asiza and Eddie do a quick ‘smile check’, something they like to do when they’re stressed. Amy tells them that their idea doesn’t sound that exciting, so they’ll have to up their game.
9:20 p.m. — While the crews are hard at work, a Tyrannosaurus Rex enters the building. This adds a bit of stress to the situation. Then Chris Pratt walks into the room and leaves everyone a little in awe. This does not prevent them from keeping their noses in their work.
9:30 p.m. — Jonathan and Xavier are the first team that seems seriously concerned about its construction. They tested their “crash” three times and it failed each time. They still have nearly four hours on the clock to figure this out. Meanwhile, Asiza and Eddie are concerned about all the empty space in their building. Amy says she is very excited about Emily and Liam’s build. Jamie is intrigued by this Brendan and Greg done. Who are they worried about? Asiza & Eddie and Kerry & Patrick have a lot of work to do.
9:35 p.m. — Stephen & Stephen feel the pressure after winning the first challenge. They spent too much time concentrating on their buildings for this project and now their motor functions aren’t working. With one minute remaining, teams are forced to put the finishing touches on their builds. It’s judgment time.
9:40 p.m. — Liz & Erin built “Fiasco Food Truck.” It’s lunch time at the food park, but the delicious smells have attracted more than just regular customers! Their special effects dynamite works beautifully and gets a “Wow!” from Amy. Next comes “Why did the Brontosaurus cross the road? by Brendan and Greg. It’s a beautiful dinosaur that spots a female and runs through power lines and shoots them down. Jamie calls it “fantastic use of your special effects”. Jonathan and Xavier built “Dino Traffic Delays”. Two families of dinosaurs cause a traffic delay in which a train car crashes and a driver jumps out of his truck. Amy is impressed with the risks they took and the risk paid off.
9:45 p.m. — Stephen and Stephen built ‘Dinny’s Accident’, an iconic dinosaur that walks down a city street and causes crashes. Unfortunately, not all mechanical tricks work in this version. The explosions are still there, with beautiful fire. Jamie says it was “awesome”, but it would have been better with movement. Nick and Stacey built “Night of the Living Dinosaurs”, a Halloween night in the suburbs. The explosives detonate without a hitch and Amy commends their character builds. Dave and Emily have built “Fossil Fuels”, a gas station theme with a gas pump explosion. Jamie calls it “fantastic!” and “super dynamic”. The next are austin and justin with “A streetcar named disaster”. It’s an awe-inspiring landscape and Jamie praises their ability to tell a story. Christine & Michelle built “Fiesta Crashers”, where tourists from all over the visit. Uninvited guests ignite power lines and cause epic explosions. Amy loves that these two “build big” and Jamie says they “know how to hold our attention”.
9:55 p.m. – Asiza and Eddie built ‘Roar’, which is based on a true story about when they took their little sister to see ‘Jurassic Park’. Amy loves that these two build from the heart, but the scene is flat. The details don’t come out, but at least the explosives work. Amy adds that she wished they had elevated the character a bit. Emily and Liam built “Mosasaurus Mayhem”, telling the story of the prehistoric ocean king. He crashes into a boat, the sailor jumping for his life. Amy says she gets goosebumps from the scale of this build. “An absolutely epic scene.” Finally, Kerry and Patrick constructed “The Peaceful Valley”, a story about the rebirth of chaos. Amy calls it “fun to watch” but suggests they change their story.
9:57 p.m. — Amy announces that the two best teams are Emily & Liam and Jonathan & Xavier. The winner is… Emily & Liam!
10:00 p.m. – Now it’s time to reveal the final two teams – Kerry & Patrick and Asiza & Eddie. Unfortunately, the team going home tonight is Asiza & Eddie. Amy says it has been a joy to watch them build. They lit up the room with their stories. The brother/sister duo are proud of their “epic adventure” and she will always hold a special place in their hearts.
