Don’t believe the Max Key Hype
Max Key hits Jacinda Ardern with a surprise question at a professional event
The son of former Prime Minister Sir John Key and property developer Max Key questioned Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern at a business event on Wednesday.
Key asked Ardern if she was concerned that the buildup of public debt in recent years – debt has piled up during the COVID-19 pandemic – will have to be repaid by young New Zealanders.
“Do you think that’s fair?” says Key.
Ardern laughed upon hearing it was Key, saying she missed Question Time “but I feel like I’m not getting too different a question here in the room.”
Bernard Hickey with the sickest burn today on Max Key, and the broader rights, argument that this government has plunged us under an ocean of debt, when in comparison it has not…
… This is similar to the CTU chart which highlighted that the government stimulus did not generate massive inflationary pressures…
…if government spending were driving New Zealand inflation, the gap between our GDP and the CPI would be huge. It’s not. Although the right continues to claim that government spending drives up prices, the media still fails to point out that this is not true!
There are many valid reasons to complain about Labour, but to claim that government spending is the cause of all inflation and that the state shouldn’t borrow more are not two of them!
