David Seymour lukewarm on ACT working with Te Pāti Māori, won’t rule out New Zealand first

ACT leader David Seymour is lukewarm about working with Te Pāti Māori in a hypothetical centre-right administration, but leaves the door slightly ajar at NZ First.

David likes his racist old school…

…every favorite Maori basher from Pakeha, Winston Peters to his fear of a most beautiful brown planet.

While David is right to point out how flaccid the Maori party is, damning them by opening the door to Winston is like a panel of lepers judging a beauty contest in terms of philosophical height.

Forget who David is ready to get into a political Menage à Trois because, if we are going to criticize race politics, ACT wants to start a race war in New Zealand by removing the Treaty from all laws!

ACT’s David Seymour mocks ‘Red Queen’ Jacinda Ardern in State of the Nation address

ACT party leader David Seymour mocked ‘Red Queen’ Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern in State of the Nation address, vows to cut government agencies and withdraw Waitangi Treaty laws of the country.

Let’s be very clear, the ACT’s call to remove the treaty from all laws would trigger a race war.

Play it:

• David Seymour strikes a deal with National in 2023 and launches his purge of every Maori political victory since the treaty was signed.
• The closure of every co-governance agreement would cause outright outrage within Maoridom and trigger a large number of immediate court cases that would stall any legislative process, as every decision taken after Parliament passed the law ending co-governance -governance would be challenged. Political protests would break out across the country and local councils would find local resistance as Māori groups universally established occupations of shared governance assets.
• Similarly, the abolition of Māori seats would trigger huge protests, many of which would quickly escalate into violence. The UN would criticize New Zealand for stifling indigenous voting rights and we would face global condemnation.
• The new government would then try to find someone within Maoridom who would be willing to negotiate new “provisions” of the treaty with them. No one within Maoridom would voluntarily negotiate them and so the new government, while facing increasingly violent weekly street protests, would announce that it is universally negotiating these new arrangements on behalf of Māoridom. The news that the new government has not only ended co-governance and abolished Maori seats, but is also redefining the whole treaty on its own, inspires all violent protests and the new government responds by using more in addition to special laws against terror and paramilitary policing to keep a lid on the growing fury within Maoridom at the loss of their political rights.
• Increasingly, global media attention is scathing towards the new government.
• Donald Trump describes the new government as “wise”.
• While ending co-governance, abolishing Maori seats AND renegotiating the entire treaty on their own, the new government then announces the end of the Waitangi Tribunal. This causes an eruption of anger within Maoridom which manages to eclipse the current rage and entire regions are now in open revolt.
• Even before the new government is able to remove consultation processes, Maori customary rights and all Maori funding, the country is plunged into a veritable race war that the new government is unable to control.
• Large swaths of the military are refusing to open fire on a public demonstration after the new Conservative government ordered them to do so.

David can be as much of a smug intellectual as he wants to be, but selling raw meat racism to angry white men with political promises that would lead to a race war isn’t smart politics, it’s fucking dangerous and it’s fucking ugly.

I don’t know why a political party that wants to deepen racial divisions by taking away political rights from the indigenous population is asked for their opinion on who they would form a government with, the question is surely who the hell would give power to a right wing tough political party like ACT?
