2022 Blog Poll Week 3 – Despicable National Coaching Malpractice Upsets Top 25

Don’t look now, but Arkansas has quietly put together the best resume in the nation. Full pants from a good USCe team and a defenestration of last season’s CFP darlings Cincinnati will do it. Sure, both games were at home and both opponents introduced new quarterbacks, but look around – very few other teams have put together something quite as good.

Early season results are always very smooth, and I’d be surprised if the Hogs stayed at this high level (the team above them, Georgia, would smoke hogs like a side of ham). But, you can only beat who’s on your schedule, and Arkansas has the best ‘uns…yet.

Yesterday’s story was malpractice by the coaches, and it was also a despicable national trend.

Take your pick across the landscape: Nebraska gives up another game to a terrible South Georgia team (and gives up nearly 700 yards in the process); Notre Dame is awarded home by Marshall; Wisconsin losing at Camp Randall to a simply dismal Wazzu team; fall of iowa El Assico in Iowa City to a Cyclones team returning exactly 8 starters; ohio state still refusing to run the ball and letting an awful Arkansas State team hang around for a halftime; Stanford went down 5 halftime touchdowns with 19 returning starters; Bill O’Brien remains the NFL failson who can somehow take chicken cordon bleu and turn it into Great Value Expired Chicken Nuggets (I hate that MFer with every fiber of my being), and so on.

If there was a favorite to be had, there were plenty of millionaires who didn’t make a living yesterday. There have been flights from coast to coast with the complicity of taxpayers and recalls. Of course, it makes a big drama. But if you like good football, players developed to their potential, and wealthy adults earning their paychecks, then a sizable part of you must be nauseated too.
